The Nailmetics team, led by David Cronje and Marlene Burger, consists of a number of talented employees with over 50 years combined experience in cosmetic products, marketing, finance and customer relationship management. THE STORY OF COVERDERM
COVERDERM ® Camouflage was originally developed in the USA by
Lydia O’Leary; a professional chemist as well as an amateur painter. She had a birthmark on her face, which resulted in a traumatic childhood and an unsuccessful career path as an adult. While painting a flower one day she decided to change the colour, covering the old colour with a new, different one. She was amazed at how easily the colour could be changed and realized that she could do the same on her face.
Lydia O’Leary experimented with different textures and colours.
The aim was to combine perfect coverage, long lasting results and a natural looking effect. It took her some years of experimentation before she finally succeeded in the miraculous formula that could combine all of her objectives. The result was the first camouflage make-up in the world: Coverderm – “Perfection in Camouflage”, and the only make-up that
won a USA patent (1932) by the FDA.
The recognition of her formula continued through the century.
Lydia O’Leary, the inventor of the unique cosmetic camouflage technology on which Coverderm is based, is showcased along with other renowned inventors such as Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison, in the exceptional exhibition “Invention at Play” at the prestigious Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, USA.
In some countries, Coverderm is sold under the brand name Covermark. The product content is identical in both Coverderm and Covermark products, but the brand names and product packaging differs. Both Coverderm and Covermark are distributed worldwide by Farmeco.
